October 24th: Noon dismissal
Reading: We will briefly touch on fables at the beginning of this week. We will then jump in to Unit 3 which focuses on neighborhoods and communities. We will also be discussing vowel and consonant blends, and practice identifying and using question, statement and exclamatory sentences.
Math: During math we have been working on even and odd numbers and forming equal groups using arrays. (Pictures that form equal rows and columns). Our next topic will focus on discovering different strategies to add two-digit numbers.
Writing: Our first unit of writing has been focused on narrative stories where students write about small moments that have happened in their lives. We are continuing to work hard to add powerful details, as well as strong beginnings and endings to our stories. Once we have completed this unit, we will switch gears to writing informational pieces that go along with some science experiments!
Science: So far in science, we have been learning about properties of matter and the states of matter. Students have been having fun performing various experiments using hands-on learning!
Due to no school on Friday, our spelling test will be on THURSDAY October 4th this week. Homework will be due on the following TUESDAY when students come back from our long weekend. Thank you so much for your continued support in our classroom, and as always, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.
